My name is Kiumars Soltani and I’m a PhD student in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Illinois Informatics Institute. I design and implement large-scale spatiotemporal data science products. My main research focus is on scalable spatiotemporal data models, distributed processing of spatiotemporal data and harnessing microservice architecture to design and deploy interactive¬†and complex data products.

Aside from computer science and mathematics (which I studied in college), I like to read or watch documentaries about economics, finance and history. However, if I’m not in the office or hanging out with my friends, there’s a good chance that you find me either playing or reading about soccer. I’m a huge fan of Manchester United and¬†Persepolis (a soccer team from my hometown – Tehran – and arguably the most popular soccer club in Asia).
