My name is Kiumars Soltani and I’m a PhD student in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Illinois Informatics Institute. I design and implement large-scale spatiotemporal data science products. My main research focus is on scalable spatiotemporal data models, distributed processing of spatiotemporal data and harnessing microservice architecture to design and deploy interactive and complex data products.
Aside from computer science and mathematics (which I studied in college), I like to read or watch documentaries about economics, finance and history. However, if I’m not in the office or hanging out with my friends, there’s a good chance that you find me either playing or reading about soccer. I’m a huge fan of Manchester United and Persepolis (a soccer team from my hometown – Tehran – and arguably the most popular soccer club in Asia).
